Ed O doesn't have one side of the ball locked down. He's never even been a coordinator.
There are good recruiters that are also good defensive or offensive minds. You need someone that installs their philosophy on one side of the ball and can develop relationships with HS coaches in the state and hire good assistants on the other side of the ball.
Coaches like O, Dabo, Sam Pittman and even Cristobal at Oregon require elite coordinators to have success. I'd rather have someone like Aranda that is an X's and O's guy.
