With the anniversary of Katrina yesterday I noticed my copy of The Great Deluge by Douglas Brinkley on my shelf and remembered what a great book it is. I've read it several times and it seems like the most comprehensive book about Katrina that I've read. Wondering what anyone else who has read it thought.

It's questionable. Very quickly written and based mostly on secondary, journalistic sources, bad ones. No serious history work uses journalism as a main source.
Brinkley's biographies and earlier academic work are top notch. He's since become something of a hack.

There really aren't any quality Katrina history books out yet. Not comprehensive ones anyway.

Too much emotion, either in the writing itself or in trying to capture reader's emotion for that $$$$$.
