I watched the Bosch series on Amazon a couple of years ago, I had never heard of the author or the Bosch books before that but found the first book, The Black Echo recently at a used book store and decided to check it out.
I really liked the book. The time frame is obviously different (early 90s vs 2010’s) and Bosch being a Vietnam vet plays a much bigger role in the plot. I liked the pacing, the build to the caper was good and the payoff was great. The combo of watching the series and having gone to LA last year made it easy to visualize the city as an important character. I want to check out the next couple of books. I was never really a mystery guy but have gotten more into noir/neo noir the last few years.

I too watched the tv series and loved it which caused me to read The Black Echo. I’m now on book 10; some are better than others but they are all intriguing reads. They are hard to put down after you start.

Yeah was an easy read and hard to put down, knocked it out in 4 days. Looking for the Black Ice now, I prefer the older 6.75” paperbacks which can be a pain in the arse to find

Excellent author. I had read all of his books (save for the most recent) when the series came out. Made it fun to go back and figure out which books a season was drawing from.

Concrete Blonde and Angels Flight are both very good

Angels flight was one of my favorites too. Also enjoyed the books that crossover between Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer
