Mosquito Supper Club: Cajun recipes from a disappearing bayou

Picked it up over the weekend. I had the chance to actually attend one of the dinner parties a couple years ago and the food was ridiculously good. Some great pics and stories in here. If you’re familiar with South La you’ll enjoy this.

I checked it out from the library. Enjoyed the pages about her family life growing up and the seafood industry.
Her family's style of cooking is quite different from what most folks think of as Cajun.
Her seafood gumbos lack roux. Instead, she cooks down a ton of onions until caramelized, often obliterates a tomato in there as well, and thickens with smothered okra that she makes in huge batches. I'm sure it is good, but it is not the dark roux approach most folks use.
