The Crossing might be his best book.
The Crossing was incredible. That scene between Billy Parham and the old guy who lives in the broken-down church was so good I kept going back and re-reading it, even before I finished the book. Maybe about 15 pages of dialogue (mostly a monologue, actually) about God and religion. To me it was spellbinding. And the first 130 pages or so of the book, where Billy takes the wolf to Mexico, is as good as anything I've read in a long, long time.

quote:Just finished The Passenger. I loved it. It's not in the upper tier of his books IMO, but it's still a great book. I know that some criticized it as not having a plot, but I never had that feeling while reading it. I'm going to start tonight on Stella Maris.
I also REALLY enjoyed the Passenger. I know this one is hit or miss for a lot of his fans, but it had such a weird vibe to it unlike his other works.
