My mom used to take me to the library once a week and make me check out a book to read when i was in 2nd-3rd grade. i've never really stopped reading. i read something rather it be a chapter or something a day. i don't really care for sci fi. i like classics but also like tom clancy etc

The Brothers Karamazov was a good read. As silly as it sounds, Animal Farm is probably my fav book. Short, profound, to the point, still relevant.

Awesome series

I watched the tv War and Peace last year and thought..."hey why not read the book". For some reason I could not get into it. And since there are soooo many other books I want to read..I just gave up on it. But would maybe consider giving it another go sometime. After all, it is considered one of the literary greats of all time.

Who has read all of War and Peace?

I read it (a long time ago). I enjoyed it but I wouldn't say it was one of my favorites. Heck, as far as long books. Go, I think Moby Dick was better. The Dostoevsky books were also better IMO as well as quite a few other books from Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and others. So I'd say it's not a must read and if you couldn't get into it on the first reading I probably wouldn't re-visit it. Like you say, there are so many great books out there.

Most overrated book ever. The story is fine, but the book has hundreds of pages on the technical aspects of whaling that have nothing to do with the actual plot.

For some reason I loved it. It hooked me in from the opening lines. And Ahab was a great character. Plus, hell, any book that gets quoted by Fricken' Khan Noonien Singh in the middle of a great spaceship battle is ok by me.
