Eruption - Michael Crichton/James Patterson

Just finished reading Eruption, average airport bookstore book. What I found interesting was the Vice president in the book was from Louisiana. Given that James Patterson is a republican, could be have modeled the character on Steve Scalise or Mike Johnson?

Honest question, should the cover read:
Eruption
By "some notes we found at the bottom of Michael Crichton's desk drawer 10 years ago" and "James Patterson's ghost writer"
