I thought it sucked.
ETA - I read it in 1985 at thd age of 16 and didn't get it. At age 50, due to posters on this board raving about it, I read it again thinking that, as an adult, I would view the book differently. Nope.
FWIW, I also hated the Kite Runner, and it is supposedly an amazing read as well.
