Benedict Jacka - The Alex Verus series

My latest substitute for Dresden while Butcher writes the next book has been the Alex Verus series. It's a bit of a different take on magic (he sees possible/probable future outcomes) but Jacka makes it very interesting with the way he describes how the power works.
While Verus himself and many of the supporting characters seem a bit wooden and flat (then again that may be due to my reading the Iron Druid Chronicles prior to this series), the action builds quickly and Jacka succeeds at making a world with lots of depth and intrigue.
If you find yourself with some spare time this holiday season and looking for a new series, pick this one up and give it a try.
