I recently just got into the series and am finishing up the original two seasons. I know there are several books out there, anyone know whether I should read them before I watch the revival season? Thanks

Secret History can be read after watching 1st 2 seasons and Fire Walk With Me. You should wait to read The Final Dossier until after finishing Season 3 (The Return) to avoid some spoilers.

I haven’t read any of the books. I just think of Lynch and the story as being more of a visual experience.

The books are all Frost. Lynch has even said that they are only Frost’s interpretation of events, not necessarily his. That being said, they are both quick reads and do give a bit of back story to some things as well as a way to interpret the ending of the Return. I enjoyed both books as a Twin Peaks fan.

If you want to go further down the rabbit hole at the end of those two books, try to find a copy of The Devils Guard written by Talbot Mundy in 1926. An adventure novel set in Tibet that introduces the concept of the White and Black lodges that definitely influenced Twin Peaks. There are even dugpas, owls, dream visitors and the idea that spirits can travel via electricity - all influences in Lynchian works.

That’s awesome, I love obscure books like that! I’ll try to track a copy down.
