This is pretty cool. MODE Blog’s Benn Stancil used information from ESPN to create a map that shows where all of today’s 25,000 Division-I college football players come from. You can check out the map here, which is actually interactive and gets into even more detail about positions, etc. But here's a glimpse...

Well, this map certainly explains why UK has such a shitty football program. Compared to the other SEC states, especially those with similar population numbers such as South Carolina, there's little interest in football. I'd love to see a similar map for basketball.

Looks like Dade County, FL, Harris County, TX and Los Angeles County, CA are the three hot spots that produce the most talent per capita.
