First of all, congrats to the Florida Gators for capturing the BCS Title Game last night. The Gators won the often-boring game 24-14 over Oklahoma to join LSU as the only team to win two BCS titles. Urban Meyer becomes the first coach to win two BCS titles. Bob Stoops falls to 1-4 in BCS title games and has lost five straight BCS games.

LSU finished the season unranked in the final AP and Coaches polls. The Tigers had enough votes to be ranked No. 28. It was the first time that LSU has not finished the season ranked in the either poll since the 2002 season, when LSU lost to Texas in the Cotton Bowl and finished the season 8-5.

The AP Top 10:

Like I posted yesterday, this college football season has screamed for a playoff system. Apparently Scott Van Pelt was all emotional last night on ESPN about the need for a playoff system. In this thread on the More Sports Board, we talked about how many teams would make sense in a playoff.

In recruiting news, Glen Guilbeau writes that LSU commitment Janzen Jackson, the No. 2 cornerback prospect in the nation out of Barbe High School in Lake Charles, left this morning to visit Tennessee. Tennessee was not on Jackson's radar until Tennessee hired Coach O last week. Apparently, Tennessee is also interested in possibly hiring Jackson's father Lance Guidry, who is a friend of Orgeron's and the secondary coach at McNeese State in Lake Charles.
