LSU tops ULL in Pontiff Classic; LSU basketball team gets transfer from Ole Miss

No. 6 LSU defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 10-6 in front of 6,601 in the Wally Pontiff Classic at Zephyr Field last night. Blake Dean, Micah Gibbs and Ryan Schimpf all hit home runs for the Tigers. LSU begins a three-game series against Auburn tomorrow at Alex Box Stadium starting at 7pm CT.
In LSU Basketball news, LSU men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson announced Wednesday that the school has received the signed papers for Malcolm White of Baton Rouge, allowing him to transfer from Ole Miss to play at LSU beginning with the 2010-11 season.
White, a 6-9, Forward from St. Helena Central, will have two years of eligibility remaining and will be able to practice with the team during the 2009-10 season. White played the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons for the Ole Miss Rebels.
White averaged 7.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in 24.7 minutes a game last year for the Rebels. Click here for complete story.
