by Chicken
January 27, 20091 Comments
Red River's Bennie Logan (DL, 6'2", 268 lb) committed to Les Miles and the LSU Football program this past weekend. Logan, who was the Shreveport Times’ All-Area Defensive Player of the Year, chose the Tigers over offers from Nebraska and Michigan. You can read more about him here.
Logan becomes the 21st commitment toward the 2009 class. For a list of the current commitment list, please check out our Recruiting Forum.
Following up on my write-up on Trent Richardson yesterday, this article in the Pensacola News Journal discusses the tough decision that awaits the highly coveted running back from Escambia, FL. It appears he will be deciding between Alabama, LSU, Florida and Florida State. LSU made a great impression on Richardson this past weekend, and it doesn't hurt that his brother is playing ball just down the road at Louisiana-Lafayette.
National Signing Day is Wednesday, February 4th.
In LSU Basketball news, LSU senior Marcus Thornton was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week Monday by the league office for his play last week against Mississippi State and Xavier.
Thornton averaged 30.5 points per game on 55.5 percent (20-of-36) shooting from the field and 53.3 percent (8-of-15) shooting from three-point range.
The LSU men (15-4, 3-1) return to action Wednesday in Knoxville against Tennessee (12-6, 3-1). Tip-off in Thompson-Boling Arena is at 7pm CT.
In LSU Baseball news, construction of the new Alex Box Stadium continues to progress. One of the users of TigerDroppings.com drove by the stadium yesterday to snap these pictures.
The Tigers, who are ranked No. 1 or 2 in various preseason polls, start the season in the new stadium on February 20 against Villanova.
