Wisconsin junior Tanner McEvoy has been named the starting quarterback for the Bagers when they play LSU in the next week's season opener. Per ESPN:

Badgers coach Gary Andersen said Monday that he wouldn't announce a starting quarterback before the game, but sources told the Journal Sentinel that McEvoy will get the nod over Joel Stave, who started 19 games the past two seasons.

"We may know who the starter is, but we're not going to say who the starter is until we jog out on the field for the LSU game," Andersen said Monday.

McEvoy briefly competed for the starting job last summer after transferring to Wisconsin from Arizona Western College. Stave won the job and the 6-foot-6, 222-pound McEvoy saw time at both wide receiver and safety during the season, starting three games at safety and recording 27 tackles and an interception.
Before the season at Arizona Western, he redshirted in 2011 at South Carolina.
