Former LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans for $7 million, according to NFL.com:

Houston has signed former Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, the team announced Friday night. The deal is for one year at $7 million, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, via a source informed of the situation.

Mathieu was released Wednesday by the Cardinals after balking at the idea of a pay cut from the $19 million he was due to collect under a five-year, $62.5 million contract signed in 2016.

Just last week, Mathieu told NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal that his agent believed he could collect even more money in free agency. That turned out to be wishful thinking in a depressed safety market. Instead, Mathieu will gamble on his ability to reclaim 2015 All Pro form in Houston and hit the open market again in 2019.

Tyrann, I wish you the best. Stay away from bad influences. Hopefully you will still be calling Patrick Peterson daily to keep you on the straight and narrow. You really deserved a long term contract and if you perform well on the field and have no incidents off the field, you will get a long term contract.
