East Rutherford, New Jersey, UNITED STATES
The Oakland Raiders announced Thursday that they have signed former LSU football player Trindon Holliday.

Holliday played with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay and San Francisco last season but was cut by the 49ers earlier this year.

Bill Williamson with ESPN says that Holliday could have a tough time beating out rookie Andre Debose for a spot on Oakland's roster this season:
quote:

Holliday's issue is he is just 5-foot-5 and is not a fit at receiver. I found the news of the Raiders signing Holliday to be a bit unusual. Oakland drafted Florida's Andre Debose in the seventh round. He has looked good in the organized team activities. But the Raiders have a crowded group of receivers and Debose is much more of a returner than a receiver. Thus, he could have a difficult time making the 53-man roster.
Holliday, a native of Zachary, La., played at LSU from 2006-2009. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

The fastest player ever to play college football who ranks among the nation's elite as a return specialist ... Has returned a combined total of four punt returns and kickoff returns (2 of each) for touchdowns ... Capped his career ranked among the all-time leaders at LSU in punt return yards (7th at 647) and kickoff return yards (2nd at 1,806) ... His combined return yards of 2,453 ranks second in school history to Domanick Davis' 3,294 return yards
Holliday was selected in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

His most successful season in the NFL came with the Denver Broncos in 2012-13 when he returned two kickoffs and two punts for touchdowns.

Great for Trindon. Damn didn't realize Dom Davis had that many combined return yards. That will probably never be broken!
