ESPN Staff Writer Sam Khan Jr. unveiled his list of incoming freshmen player that could make an instant impact in the the SEC West and nominated linebacker Jacob Philips for LSU. Here is what he had to say:
quote:

LSU LB Jacob Phillips:
The Tigers need bodies at inside linebacker -- they only have two scholarship players there at the moment and Phillips has the kind of size (6-3, 226 pounds) and ability (No. 141 overall in the 2017 ESPN 300; No. 3 nationally among inside linebackers) to contribute immediately at a need position. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda himself said he's anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Tigers' three freshmen linebackers this summer and that's the position where a freshman can have the biggest impact this fall.
Also joining Phillips at the position this summer are incoming freshman linebackers Patrick Queen and Tyler Taylor.

Even with all the losses on Defense... That Defense will still be salty even with the inclusion of Delpit, Phillips, Chaisson and other freshmen who will contribute this year!

My little sister graduated with Jacob a couple weeks ago. He is a great kid, and definitely highly talented. Spoke with his grandfather as well. Wonderful family!

I thought Delpit already proved himself in the Spring game that he is the front runner for best Freshman this year
