Report: LSU Football Adds New Mexico To 2022 Schedule

The LSU Tigers have added a home game vs. New Mexico to the 2022 non-conference schedule, according to FBSchedules.com.

The Tigers will pay the Lobos $1.6 million for the game, which is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2022.

The 2022 contest between LSU and New Mexico will be their first-ever meeting on the gridiron.

New Mexico is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for LSU for the 2022 season. The Tigers were previously slated to play at Arizona State in 2022, but that game was moved to 2026.

It's about time. We've scheduled New Mexico State like five times since 1996. I've always wondered, why not just New Mexico?

Good grief, how many years has ASU been backing out now? I think it was 2005 and 2006 we were supposed to have a 2 game contract. It seems they back out every time a game has been agreed upon

Still don’t really understand the negotiation process to have to drop that much money on these teams to play us from out of state. Surely we can pay less to a local Louisiana school and have a chance of actually filling the stand making more money in the end.
