LSU defensive analyst Ronnie Wheat is leaving the staff to become the safeties coach at Nevada, according to Shea Dixon with 247Sports.

Wheat, a native of Vancleave, Miss., has been on LSU's staff since the 2013 season and was considered one of Dave Aranda's top assistants on the field and on the recruiting trail.
quote:

While part of the defensive staff, Wheat helped coach an impressive group of linebackers that included future NFL Draft picks like Devin White, Kendell Beckwith, Duke Riley, Deion Jones, Kwon Alexander and Lamin Barrow. He was also instrumental in on-campus recruiting alongside Aranda and two other defensive coordinators, helping the Tigers reel in the likes of four-star middle linebackers Josh White and Antoine Sampah in the current 2020 class, with both inking with the Tigers during December's Early Signing Period.

I just want everyone to realize although these people are going to different jobs the have been analysts not coaches per-say. They do help on the field but that also assist the coaches on the field. As I read in a thread before this is actually a really good thing for LSU because more will come to learn coach and get jobs we LSU & players will greatly benefit from this going forward. #GEAUXTIGERS
