LSU head coach Ed Orgeron spoke on offensive lineman Ed Ingram during his radio appearance on 104.5 ESPN's "Off the Bench" Tuesday morning, saying the sophomore will be put "in a starting role when he earns it."

Ingram was recently reinstated to the team after serving a 13 month-long suspension for an alleged aggravated sexual assault in Dallas. The charges were dismissed in court last week. Per The Advocate:

"He's been working out," Orgeron said on 104.5 ESPN's "Off the Bench." "He seems like he's in very good shape. We're so happy for Ed, and he's a great human being, he's a great part of our staff. I mean, our football team. He's an integral part of our football team. He's probably one of our best linemen. So obviously, we're going to be putting him in a starting role when he earns it."

He wasn't guilty. He is clear. I don't see anything he has to earn back if he didn't do anything wrong and was wrongly accused. But I understand the coach speak. I get it.

Geez, O wasn't referring the accusation when saying Ingram has to earn it. O was indicating that when Ingram is ready to play and is better than the person in front of him.

Gotta love that no entitlement attitude. Promotes a healthy competitive spirit.

That's the right answer. No one deserves a starting role just because they had it last year or in spring or summer camp. You have to earn it. And you have to keep it.
