LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette was in ESPN's "very early" list of possible SEC Heisman candidates for 2015.
quote:

Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU: Another special sophomore-to-be to keep an eye on, Fournette needed some time to really get going. But when he did, he was usually the best player on the field. He finished the season with 891 yards and capped the season with 146 yards (7.7 yards per carry) and a touchdown in a dominating performance against Texas A&M. Avert your eyes, Aggies! Fournette is a special talent who will be doing a lot more of this in the next couple of years.
Others on the list:

Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State
Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
Josh Robinson, RB, Mississippi State

Alabama's Amari Cooper and T.J. Yeldon, along with Auburns's D'haquille Williams were not on the list as ESPN's Edward Aschoff expects them to head to the NFL next year.

Wasn't he on the 2014 pre season list when everyone was fawning over him before even one snap?

He probably won't win it based simply on the talent we have coming in at the RB position. Between LF, DWilliams and Guice (fingers crossed) we're gonna be STACKED.

It is tough for a NON QB to win this award. Usually is a running back if not.

The award will go to the quarterback that is the mist popular at the end of the season. It might as well be the Heisman quarterback trophy.
