Lane Kiffin spoke with the media after LSU's first day of spring practice on Tuesday and provided a brief injury update on linebacker Whit Weeks.

Weeks, who is recovering from an ankle injury suffered last season, did not practice on Tuesday, but could be back sometime this spring, according to Kiffin.

“Whit will continue to do more as we get going through spring and be cleared for more stuff,” Kiffin said.

Weeks' ankle injury dates back to his sophomore season in 2024, when he dislocated his ankle in LSU's bowl victory over Baylor on Dec. 31.

Weeks returned to full strength for the start of last season, but revealed to reporters that he broke the same ankle during LSU's week 5 loss at Ole Miss.

The Tigers were on a bye the following week, but Weeks played in LSU's next game against South Carolina in Week 7.

After the win against the Gamecocks, Weeks missed the next four games before making a brief appearance in the Western Kentucky game, and played in the season finale against Oklahoma.

hopefully it isn't something that will continue occurring over and over

Well, not having a coaching staff allowing him to attempt to play in 2 games after breaking it should help.

Worrisome that he has been fighting the same injury since 2024 season and still can’t practice in 2026.
