The Tigers received 86 votes in the poll of 32 Division I coaches, all members of the supporting National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Michigan State is No. 1 with Kentucky (2), Florida (6), Auburn (23), LSU (24) and Tennessee (25) representing the Southeastern Conference.

The Tigers open the 2019-20 regular season on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. against Bowling Green in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Season ticket information and seat availability can be found at LSUTix.net.

LSU was ranked in the final nine coaches' polls a year ago, including No. 15 in the final poll of 2019, taken following the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers were 28-7 overall and 16-2, winning the SEC regular-season championships. LSU defeated Yale and Maryland in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16.
The Tigers are ranked No. 22 in the AP Top 25, which came out earlier this week.

Basketball is in a good place right now. Good enough to have fun watching games, but not so good that the fanbase is demanding championships every year. :)

Call me crazy, but I think we are good enough to be a Final 4 team... funk that 24th shite. I understand there is no reason for this poll to put us in the Top 4 (or even the top 10), but by the time the end of the season rolls around, I think we will be up there - and everyone "up there" is good enough to get hot and make a run in the tourney... a la Texas Tech of last year.

Lol. That's way too low for this team and the talent we have coming back and the new talent we have coming in this season. We were the damn sec champs last season and I guess that doesnt garner much respect from idiots that don't know anything about this team and just vote on biased opinions and the names of the schools, rather than looking at what teams did in the prior season, what they have coming back from the teams they had last season, and what players have they gained that replace the players they lost from the prior season. Watford is a stud and from what I've heard from Wade and others, Charles Manning is a stud. We may be better this season than last season, you know, the sec champions. Lol. The media is dumb. We are underated going into this season, but this team will gain it's respect. I have no doubt about that. Gonna be another exciting season! Geaux Tigers!
