LSU Men’s Basketball Defeats Prairie View, 104-90

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU men’s basketball team defeated Prairie View, 104-90, on Monday night inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
With the victory, LSU improves to 11-1 overall. Prairie View falls to 5-7 on the season.
The opening half was a back-and-forth battle as each team exchanged scores. However, Prairie View created separation, taking a 56-51 lead into the break. LSU shot 13-of-26 (50%) from the floor, while the Panthers went 18-of-27 (66.7%). LSU drained six three-pointers to Prairie View’s 10. Additionally, both teams were solid at the free throw line as the Tigers shot 19-of-22 (86.4%) to the Panther’s 10-of-12 (83.3%).
LSU ultimately pulled through to win the game outscoring the Panthers, 53-34, in the second half. The Tigers shot 45.2 percent from the floor on 14-of-31 shooting, were 24-of-27 (88.9%) at the free throw line, and tallied 21 rebounds.
Marquel Sutton finished with a double-double after leading the Tigers with 21 points on 4-of-9 shots and 11 rebounds. Dedan Thomas Jr. also scored 21 points to lead the Tigers on 5-of-9 shooting.
In addition to Sutton and Thomas Jr., four other Tigers scored in double figures, including Michael Nwoko (18), Rashad King (13), Max Mackinnon (12) and Pablo Tamba (10).
The Panthers were led by Tai’Reon Joseph with 34 points and five treys.
The Tigers are back in action Monday, Dec. 29 as they return home to face Southern Miss. The game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
