LSU Baseball coach Paul Mainieri announced Friday that sophomore right-handed pitcher AJ Labas will miss the 2019 season after having shoulder surgery on this week.

Mainieri also announced that senior infielder Chris Reid has rejoined the team. Per LSUSports.net:

Mainieri said that infielder Chris Reid, a senior from Baton Rouge, has been re-instated to the Tigers’ 35-man roster.

Mainieri also announced that sophomore pitcher AJ Labas, a right-hander from Fleming Island, Fla., underwent shoulder surgery on Thursday and will miss the entire 2019 season.

Reid is a .275 (69-for-251) career hitter in his first three seasons at LSU (2016-18) with 10 doubles, one triple, one homer and 24 RBI. He has played in 126 games with 67 starts, primarily at third base.

Labas, a 2018 Freshman All-American, started 13 games last season, posting a 6-2 record and a 3.48 ERA in 54.1 innings with seven walks and 32 strikeouts.

Tough break on Labas. Hope the Razorbacks can find a rotation for this season. Opening day less than 2 weeks away. Here's to a great season for both clubs

Labas will be a tough loss...but looks like LSU will have the pitching depth to compensate.

Sad to lose a pitcher but Reid is a hell of a player and an even better teammate to have in the dugout. Kudos PM for getting him back
