LSU head coach Paul Mainieri said Tuesday that he does not expect infielder Josh Smtih to play this weekend as he is dealing with muscle spasms.

Mainieri announced the news at his First Pitch Luncheon and said that he is hopeful that Smith can return for the Alabama or Auburn series.

Smith missed 38 games due to a back injury but returned to the lineup last week vs. Lamar, going 2-for-3 with a home run.

He played in Thursday's game vs. Ole Miss but was pulled from Friday's game after just three innings and did not play in Saturday's series finale.
