According to Sporting News on Tuesday, the national championship game will be bid out to cities over the length of the series' television contract. University presidents want to make the game a stand-alone event from the rest of the bowl season. Among the top cities likely to bid for the event: the four current BCS bowl cities (Pasadena, Calif.; Phoenix, New Orleans, Miami) as well as Dallas, Indianapolis, Atlanta and Tampa.
