Red fishing hooks
Posted by NOLAHornets on 7/30/13 at 9:46 pm
I've read mixed things on red hooks. Some say that it appears as blood to the fish, some say it vanishes in the water better, and some say it's a gimmick. Anyone have any experience in testing different hook colors? I've been using Daiichi bleeding bait hooks, but wondering if it even matters....

Great, thanks for the advice. I will probably go with the Coastal, as I was already leaning towards that. I work downtown and love Professional Sports. They are friendly and you're right about their prices!...

Falcon Coastal vs. Falcon BuCoo Spinning Rods
Posted by NOLAHornets on 2/22/12 at 2:34 pm
Looking at my next rod purchase- I think I have narrowed it down to either the Falcon Coastal or the Falcon BuCoo. I have never owned a split grip rod before, but am willing to give it a shot if it's a popular choice. I currently have a Falcon HD. Anyone have some input or suggestions?
Thanks!...

Frogs in pond
Posted by NOLAHornets on 7/11/11 at 1:39 pm
Any advice on preventing frogs from getting into my garden pond? They tear up the pond and disturb the fish. I've even had 3 dead fish as a result. Saturday I removed 4 frogs from the skimmer. Today I check again and see over 20. I don't think there is much I can do since I have live plants and ...

Ship Island
Posted by NOLAHornets on 5/2/11 at 5:18 pm
I am planning to go to Ship Island this weekend. I know of the ferry, but I was wondering if it would be feasible to take my own boat there? I have an 18ft. Century, center console. Has anyone ever taken their own boat there? Is it worth it?...
