re: How long until the state of Louisiana decides to legalize marijuana? - bbqguy
Marijuana legalization is long overdue nationwide and can't come soon enough. That being said, our bassackward state legislators probably won't get it done in our lifetime....

re: Drew has all the leverage.... - bbqguy
This happens every day in the real world. If you were in Brees's shoes, would you not go for as much money as you can get? The Saints have profited immensely from Drew's talents while he has been here. Let Drew make everything he can in the remaining years of his Hall of Fame career. He'll be gone ...

re: When do u add jar roux? - bbqguy
I made my own roux for years and never had a problem. I got caught in a time crunch cooking for a hastily planned supper one night and got talked into using the jarred roux instead of making one. The resultant gumbo was fine and everyone enjoyed it. Now I use it religiously for every thing that call...

re: I'm guessing this is Cajun rice and gravy? - bbqguy
I season a roast 24 hours or longer before cooking. The seasoning works its way into the meat by osmosis. I've never heard of cutting a roast up after browning, but judging from the video, it looks like it works. I may try it with my next chuck roast....

re: I hate crawfish, am I the only one? - bbqguy
I've lived my life in Louisiana and have eaten crawfish as long as I can remember. That being said, boiled crawfish once a year is enough for me. On the other hand, I'll eat oysters any and every way you can prepare them. They are far and away my favorite seafood....

re: Tell me about Newk's Eatery - bbqguy
Good soup, sandwiches, and mac & cheese. Can get a good iced tea. That's on the plus side. On the minus side, crowded and noisy, especially from noon to one....

re: Do you normally carry a pocket knife along with your change and keys? - bbqguy
I have been carrying a pocket knife since high school. It feels like I dressed incorrectly if I don't have one in my pocket. I carry a three blade Case that was given to me years ago by my wife. ETA; A knife is a useful tool, just like a gun. It is no better or worse than the person using it. ...

re: Aeropress help - transitioning to unsweet coffee - bbqguy
If you have been drinking Community for years, try the River Road Creole medium-dark roast. Like you, I drank Community Dark for over 40 years. I find the River Road to be a better cup of coffee. It's smoother than the Community, less bitter....

re: What is your favorite Community Coffee brew? - bbqguy
Do yourself a favor, skip the Community and find the little gold bags of River Road. Much better flavor, never bitter. I switched from Community Dark Roast and couldn't be more pleased. I drink the med-dark Creole blend. Great cup of coffee!...

re: Outside sales reps: how do you deal with rejection? - bbqguy
Don't let it bother you if it's not personal. Keep going back to them on a regular basis unless told not to bother. Sooner or later they will see you are there for the long haul and will eventually warm up (unless they're total a-holes) The best tips I ever got being a outside sales rep were: ...

re: The stupidity of World War I - bbqguy
All wars are rather pointless and stupid.
It looks like after the American Civil War that military leaders worldwide would have learned their lesson about using Napoleonic tactics in a modern war. The advancements in weaponry and old outdated tactics led to horrendous amounts of ki...

re: Do NOT stay at the Hotel Indigo in San Antonio - bbqguy
I stay in hotels around 100 nights a year as I travel for my company. I have been doing this for 13 years and I can tell you the two most important things about hotels, clean and quiet. I can't and won't stay twice at a place that is not clean and quiet....

I've been listening to his new album, Traveler, lately and the guy is very good. He's been known more as a songwriter than a singer but all that is changing. I really enjoyed his work with the Steel Drivers....
