Hank Sr. is a given I think.

What about the other 3?

Cash? Willie? Dolly?

Could George Strait be on there?

You can definitely cross Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, and Walker Hayes from the prospective candidates.

I’d replace Willie with George Strait

My personal would be: Hank Sr., Lefty Frizzell, Marty Robbins and Dwight Yoakam

If I was trying to pick the four biggest stars of country music history that cut across all generations...

Hank Sr.
George Jones
Garth Brooks
George Strait

This is a great topic and as difficult as coming up with one in any major sport.

It starts and ends with Hank Sr. If he's not on the list, throw out the list. I think you have to have a lady and I'd say Loretta Lynn.

The other two spots are just impossible. Wills, Cash, Waylon, Willie, Jones, Merle, Strait, Brooks.

Purely subjective but I'd take Waylon and Strait.

Hank and Jimmie Rodgers (who seems to be forgot 'round these parts) are the big 2

Others you can argue about. Just keep Willie Nelson and his non-singing voice off.

I might nominate Webb Pierce just to remind people how big he was -- bigger than Hank at the time, in fact. But as his memory faded Hank's legend grew and grew until it basically swallowed Webb whole.

They'd have to be not just a (one) generational talent so...

Hank and Jimmie Rodgers
yep for me too

plus Mama Maybelle Carter - she's was practically the backbone of a couple generations and defined the sound as much as Bill Monroe (not just to add a female face)
and maybe Merle Travis for his guitar work (design), revolutionary picking style, and singer-songwriter skills

etc: only two m's in mama

People are saying Garth Gaines. He is syrupy sappy sweet self-aggrandizing and most likely the godfather of bro-country so no, not him.

Yeah. I wouldn't put anyone on there that helped to destroy the genre, as fans knew it.

No way that Garth Brooks should be on there. If they do, I'd hope that his statue would have him wearing his goofy Janet Jackson headphone mic and/or his Chris Gaines hair.

I just never got the appeal of Cash. Willie blows when he's not singing with someone else.

I don’t get the infatuation with Hank Sr. Never have. Miserable arse music.

I could make the argument for or against Jones (due to only being four) but you can't have country Mt Rushmore without the other two
