Was originally wanting to go to South Africa, but it's looking like Europe is going to be the place. I am tasked to think of 3 places I would like to go, so naturally I'm passing on my homework assignment to various strangers on the internet.

We like to eat and drink while we have amazing views - not so much into touristy stuff or guided tours. I've been to Paris and a good bit of France in general, and I've been to Rome.

The only place I have on my list at the moment is either the Greek or Italian coast.

What places would you pick and why? All suggestions welcomed. and TIA.

If you are going in the summer, then the coast line is your friend.

Portugal - intriguing
Spain - Great
Italy - the old standard can't miss
Greece - Great
Croatia (Big on my to go list)

We will be going in the spring - late April to mid-May. SO has been to Split and Hvar and loved it, but she may not want to go somewhere she's already been.

I would say Greece comes to mind as a top place for a honeymoon. Maybe you can justify the splurge and stay at the Mystique, Santorini.

Could also look into Tenerife. Also, though not Europe, Mauritius is close by. So is Seychelles.

Looking back at my trip to Greece, I ate a ton of meals with great views. Any of the islands will be great. Santorini is obviously the most touristy but it's absolutely breathtaking. You can also rent a catamaran for a day and sail around the island, go swimming, and have food prepared for you on the boat.

If on the mainland, this is a great itinerary if you want to rent a car and see a lot.

Spend a few days in Athens. The Plaka area is nestled right up against the Acropolis and provides amazing views, especially at night with the Parthenon lit up.

Drive from Athens to Delphi. The ruins are awesome. It's where the oracle sat up in the mountains. There are restaurants with outdoor seating overlooking a huge valley below. Stay the night.

Drive across Corinthian Sea(?) to the Peloponnese and stop in Olympia. Check out ruins of the original Olympic village. Run from the starting line. Wrestle naked.

Continue south to the southern coast of the Peloponesse and hit up the coastal villages. Kardamyli is a good place to stop for the night. Sleepy but on the water. Gitiho is a small fishing town. Perfect place to grab lunch on the water with the stench of the day's catch wafting over your plate. Plitra has a great beach. All locals. Beautiful Greek 20-something hardbodies getting their tan on and then you and your pasty American fiance. Do it. Monemvasia is Greece's rock of Gibraltar and a historical fortress for 1000 years. Must see. Heading back north, Nafplio is a cool town with Venetian influences. Also great views.

That's an entire week of eating with amazing views in Greece.

We really want to do Cinque Terre or the Amalfi coast for this. If you do the Amalfi Coast you can also do Capri.

The Amalfi Coast is perfect for a honeymoon. Or get a villa in Tuscany. We have done both and can give more specific details if you would like.

Drinking with a view first thought was Hallstatt Austria. One of the best meals of my life was at a steakhouse in St. Gilgen.

So many people have said the Amalfie coast, but Croatia seems to have equally beautiful scenery but is 1/6 the cost. Thoughts?

You are right.

Go to Croatia. Less touristy. Everyone goes to Italy, and you will too at some point.

Hubs and I have done 3 Europe trips in that late April/early May time frame. Yall should be in for some nice weather.

It may not be warm enough to enjoy the beaches of Croatia at that time, but that's definitely a spot high up on the list of places I'd like to see too!

Spain and Portugal are flat out awesome. If you want more in depth insight shoot me a message on fb and I'll tell you more about what we loved over there

Went to Istanbul last year and loved it. It's so different than the rest of Europe. (I know it's not everyone's top choice right now given the recent events, but if you're talking a year from now that could possibly be different).

Just did Italy last week, we were in Florence and Venice. I think there's a very romantic feel to both of those places, particularly when you get out into Tuscany.

I have never been to Croatia but I can't imagine it being 1/6 the cost. In Positano, check out Villa Gabrisa. On the 2nd floor, they have 3 rooms with 24' x 24' balconies with incredible views of the Mediterranean. It is not super expensive because it is a little ways up the hill.

Do not go to Germany in October-December the weather is bad. It rains, sleets, and snows almost everyday!

Went to Prague, Munich and Vienna on mine. Also went to Iceland, Denmark (Copenhagen) and Sweden (Malmö) the following year. We had a great time on both trips.
