Build a 2 month itinerary for me (March/April) - Tigerbait46
Hey all! I'm currently in Greece but looking to plan the rest of my trip through late April, maybe longer. Any suggestions if you had the freedom to plan two months of budget travel during March and April? I've listed below a few things to keep in mind: - Need to remain budget conscious averagin...

re: Going to Europe for the first time. Any tips? - Tigerbait46
Yes, gypsies are out there especially in Rome. Put wallet in front pocket and wear one of those travel wallets that go around your neck and under your shirt with extra cash and passport when needed.  Also, watch your 6 and be aware at all times. Lots of refugees over there right now. Tou...

re: Travelling alone as a stress reliever? - Tigerbait46
Yes, particularity if you find solace in nature. I went to Iceland for a 4 day trek and it really helped clear my mind to immerse myself in the epic landscapes. Not to mention, it's also easy to meet other hikers who generally have a positive disposition....

re: 6 hour layover in Amsterdam - Tigerbait46
Sleep deprivation and jet lag is a bitch. Decided to stay put at Schiphol because I'm hardly a functioning human right now. Good thing this might be the best airport in the world for a layover and I have access to the KLM lounge to keep me out if the casino....

re: 6 hour layover in Amsterdam - Tigerbait46
Not to mention, nothing even opens until 9 at the earliest, including restaurants. None of the neighborhood markets start until 9. Even places that claim they open at 9 won't open at 9. We got into city centre around 8 a.m. in March, and there wasn't a soul to be seen other than a city work...

re: 6 hour layover in Amsterdam - Tigerbait46
Sounds like I'll really only have free time from 7:00-9:30 AM which limits the activities I can do. Kind of like the idea of just walking around a bit and hanging around at a coffee house or cafe for breakfast and coffee. Afraid I'd lose track of time if I hit up a coffeeshop!...

re: Cell Phone Service Abroad - Tigerbait46
Yeah I see the argument for a very short trip, but I'll be traveling for one month minimum, and possibly for several months across several countries. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards Project Fi, even with the Verizon termination fee....

re: Cell Phone Service Abroad - Tigerbait46
But the OP should call Verizon and verify the phone can be used on a GSM network as that is what most of the world uses.....Verizon uses the CDMA network.
From what I've read, the phone can be used on GSM. I can actually change my network settings now to only connect to GSM....

Do you know if Project Fi’s coverage abroad is equivalent to the coverage provided by Sprint's and T-Mobile's international partner carriers? Since Project Fi relies on these two carriers, I would think coverage would be the same....

re: Cell Phone Service Abroad - Tigerbait46
Yeah after a little research I learned about my blunder. It still may be worth paying the early termination fee, however, as the expected cost savings from project fi over staying through the remainder of my Verizon contract may actually may be more than the fee amount. My only concern with othe...

Cell Phone Service Abroad - Tigerbait46
What's the most economical way to have a working cell phone while abroad? Does the answer differ depending on region (Europe vs Asia vs S. America)? I currently have a google pixel with Verizon, but I imagine it may make more sense to get a different phone while abroad. ...

re: Travel Insurance/International Health Insurance - Tigerbait46
Man, looking at these options really grinds my gears when comparing to ACA plans. Low premiums, low deductibles, 100% coverage with reasonable maximums... what's the catch? Am I reading these wrong? Silly to think that travelers are subject to the ACA individual mandate fee for any month beyond ...

Travel Insurance/International Health Insurance - Tigerbait46
Fair point worth further investigation if true, could you please provide some sources for your statements, particularly the one regarding the demographic makeup of the refugees as well as their distribution.
