Study on social mobility based on father's income: Is the American Dream dead? - Tigerbait46
Seems like a topic the Poliboard would enjoy. The article concludes the American Dream is not alive. I say the graph shows a different story. If you're middle class, you're more likely to move upwards than downwards. If you're poor, there's a 41% chance you end up middle class or higher. And t...

re: Has anyone here visited Iceland? - Tigerbait46
This thread needs some pics. These photos aren't mine but they're from the Laugavegur trail, which is stunningly beautiful and other-worldly at times. Even if you're not into multi-day hikes, going to Landmannalaugar (end/beginning of tail) for a day is worth it. There's a natural hot spring and ...

re: Has anyone here visited Iceland? - Tigerbait46
I visited this past September and it was incredible. If you're into backpacking, check out the Laugavegur trail. Absolutely stunning. Literally no sign of civilization except for the campsites and you cross four very distinct landscapes in just 3-4 days. ...

re: Thoughts on Nashville? - Tigerbait46
Caterpillar, sell me on leaving Atlanta for Nashville. My parents live there and I've considered the move. Seems like a great city for young people, but it's hard for me to claim it's marginally better than ATL. ...

re: Taking a class called "Interpreting Film As Literature." Here's the movie list - Tigerbait46
Who's teaching the course? I took a class my senior year called "the hero's journey through film". Awesome class. From what I recall, we were required to watch the following: Star Wars original trilogy Big Lebowski Pulp Fiction Taxi Driver 2001: A Space Odyssey Several others I ...

re: Who here is former Big 4? - Tigerbait46
^^If true, this would be a classic case of what ticks off folks at the firm...someone comes in externally earning more than people who have been trained at the firm from the beginning.
This definitely happens. I know people firsthand who left, got a raise, and then returned for ...

re: Who here is former Big 4? - Tigerbait46
4 years and counting. Can't believe I'm still here. Made an internal move within Advisory to specialize in an industry and it's a move in the right direction. I'll probably stay until manager, but I really look forward to the day I jump out of B4 and try another line of work. ...

re: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl - Tigerbait46
Saw this on a flight yesterday and dear lord, I wish someone had forewarned me to not watch in public! Absolutely loved it, but I was struggling hard to hold back the tears for a good ten minutes near the end. I can't remember ever seeing a movie that played on my emotions like this one....

re: Sounds like our school is having trouble. - Tigerbait46
Just from my experience, while I was searching for a job in IB and MB most of the firms didn't recruit out of LSU because they didn't respect the degree. It took a lot of work to latch on to a firm. Where as had I gone to a more prestigious school for finance with the same gpa and resumé they...
