Just finished downloading and starting to explore. The only potential security flaw I think I read about was Wi-Fi Sense being enabled by default.

I've been burned by new versions of Windows before. I'm going to wait at least a week or three (possibly until the first SP drops) before I upgrade from 7.

A co-worker has tinkered with it and likes it, except that they did away with Media Center in 10 and now he has to hunt down something else to take over.

Did you get the app to reserve or did you access that screen a different way?

I never did get the update app icon on my laptop that runs 8.1 PRO with media center. The laptop is under a year old but i just got it back from HP who did a repair. Been doing a ton of updates, but not sure what the next step is. My computer meets all of the criteria for 10

WIN 10 CLEAN INSTALL PROBLEM

See footnote #7:

quote:

(iii) were qualified systems but Windows 10 was subsequently clean installed (in this case, Windows Update cannot detect that it was previously a qualified system).

I don't know what other problems a clean install will cause.

I know there's a way to edit the registry in Win 8 to tell it that this was an upgrade vs clean install. That trick worked for me when trying to use an upgrade product key after a clean install of Win 8.

I've read some info about it and some are already finding it "glitchy". I think I'm gonna hold off.

We advised all our customers to wait until Sept 1st to upgrade, just to give M$ time to fix the bugs. Its the first time they have ever rolled it out like this - bugs are gonna happen.

The installer is telling me I must uninstall Symantec. I think that would be bad. Crap.

I just downloaded the iso file from my MS partner site. Ran the setup and upgrade from start to finish in 30 minutes. This thing is running smooth.

I keep getting a "Windows failed to initialize working directory" error message when trying to run this installer. Right after it finishes downloading.

I'm on a Surface Pro 2. Any ideas?
