There was another tv thread earlier this week and a lot of talk about the 8000 series screens from Samsung. I did some research on them and really liked the specs, and the reviews were great.
I looked at them during the week and loved the picture and decided I was going to get one this weekend. Well this morning I looked at the Best Buy website and they were showing an open box deal at the local store so I went to check that out. I found it and saw the sticker price was $100 more than online so I questioned that. Girl went and got the manager. He saw my LSU shirt so we talked ball for a few minutes. He asked if I wanted to take that TV home today and I told him I came in for a reason. He said how about $1500 and I told him to ring that bitch up.

To sum it up, the manager tried to call my bluff and lost. He even admitted that. I walked out with a brand new Samsung 8000 series 65" for $1500. Have to admit I'm pretty freaking happy with the purchase.

An open box for $1500? He bargained on it?

Nice, best TV for the price on the market, outstanding picture and feature set. Enjoy!

Great price too, I got mine for $1800 (curved version) and thought that was a steal. Yours is straight robbery.

I couldn't believe it when he threw $1500 out. I came there with the intention of buying it for $2045, that's what it showed online. He didn't think I was serious about buying so he threw a number out, obviously I wasn't going to pass on that deal. I'm loving it other than it barely fits my entertainment center.
I'm going to get a mount to hang it on the wall and put in wall speakers around it for a clean install. My house has the perfect closet behind the wall for the receiver and everything else and I have the remote for it to be all hidden. Should be fun programming it all.

Yep. I recently made an open box purchase for less than half of retail at Best Buy. If you don't ask you won't know. Surprised the hell out of me when he went lower than sticker.

I just bought the same TV last week. $1800 new from my wholesaler. I'm very leery about the open box deals at best buy since you never know if it has been on display for 6 months with 1000's of hours on it.
Congrats on the deal and I hope it works out for you.

OP how's it working out for you? I see a 60" of the same model at my best buy and thinking about employing the same strategy. Worried about the open box aspect of it unless I can knock a good bit off the sticker.

You can still buy warranties on open box. Go for it

Well, they wouldn't really come off 1750 for the 60". Said the only way they would is if I bought some extras to go along with it that would basically get it back around that same price. I said no thanks to the 100$ mount and hdmi cable they wanted to sell me.

I mean the 60" is what, $1999 full price right now?

$1750 I would have pulled the trigger, but I also impulse buy.

That's still a good deal though, not sure you're going to beat it until this fall for a 60+".

Yeah I had to resist for now. Waiting til TV sale season is probably the best move, but I'm also an impatient son of a bitch

I may give it another week or two and see if it's still sitting there and if they will at that point.

Yeah I wouldn't be able to wait once football season starts.

I would say if you can even just get it down to $1700 flat, pull the trigger. Anything less is gravy.

I'm actually considering ordering from Amazon new. They have it for 1999 and if I use my Discover I can get 5% cash back on it. New for about 1930, with no tax and free shipping? Even if I got BB down to 1700, that's another 170 with tax, and I'm only 60$ less than a new one.

Goddammit too many choices.

I'm loving it. Open box doesn't concern me, still comes with the full warranty and the option to purchase their extended warranty. I'm a bargain shopper, I refuse to pay retail pricing for anything I buy.
I've bought several high end electronics that were open box or refurbished and have never had a problem. In fact I just bought a set of in wall speakers that were $1000 for the pair regular, I got them for $450 shipped on an open box deal.

Which model did you get? I just broke the screen on my Vizio tv and am going back to Samsung. Looking to make a trip to best buy today.

Holy shite, the price just dropped to 1699 on Amazon. Think I'm about to pull the trigger.
