re: Dell XPS Thoughts - daviddsims
First night with the XPS and I am not quite sold yet. The screen seems a little fuzzy and not as clear as it should be even with the resolution set to max. The trackpad is good but not quite on the macbook level. I will give it a week before I decide to send it back. I did by from Microsoft so I got...

re: Dell XPS Thoughts - daviddsims
The new XPS 13 inch is rated the best Ultrabook by most magazines and online publications. The build quality and design get really high marks but I am not totally sold on anything yet. ...

The tough thing about this laptop is finding one in person. Dell basically just sells online and I cannot find one in a story anywhere. ...

Shrub Choice - daviddsims
I have a bed in front of my house that faces due south and gets mostly full sun. Over the past five years I have tried Encore Azaleas, Lorapetalum, and Gardenias with little to no success. They all seem to die within a year. I have Indian Hawthorne that survives and thrives along with small annual p...

Yep I do not want it turning into that. I am definitely interested in a fast windows based laptop for internet and microsoft office use. The Dell XPS stuck out because of the good reviews I saw....

Dell XPS Thoughts - daviddsims
My mid 2009 Macbook Pro has just about bit the dust. I have replaced HD with SSD and upgraded to 8gb ram but even with that it has started lagging very bad and hanging up. I have zero complaints with it and wouldn't hesitate to get another but I was looking at the XPS because it is much cheaper and ...

re: Foam Insulation - daviddsims
I am in the same situation and decided to do foam in the attic and BIBS in the walls. Since I will be using all electric for A/C and heat, it was not a big deal and will actually downsize the cooling requirements....

re: I need a new laptop. What kind to buy? - daviddsims
My mid 2010 Mac Pro with SSD and 8gb ram is about on its last legs. It just seems to lag recently even after disc repair and fresh install of Yosemite. I am thinking of a new computer and although I love my Mac, the Dell XPS has caught my attention. ...

I have been to Magazine and stayed at the lodge many times. Really beautiful area but not much to do other than visit wineries a few miles down the road. Honestly I could just go there and hike and relax for a weekend and be good. ...

re: Best central air unit brand? - daviddsims
The minimum very soon will be 14 seer. When I was considering the SEER rating on my new home that will be built, had a couple of energy raters use their software and foam attic and putting the unit in a semi-conditioned space was much higher ROI than the actual SEER. For me to jump from a 14 SEER up...

re: Best central air unit brand? - daviddsims
The energy savings on a higher seer rating has a poor ROI. The thing you get with higher seer units and options are comfort such as two stage compressors and variable speed evaporator fans. Get a 14 or 16 Seer unit and call it a day. ...

Install is 80% of unit longevity. You can have a hack put a Trane in and last less than five years or a pro put a Goodman in and last twenty. ...
