DirecTV is what you should get, cutting the cord is annoying.

I haven't regretted cutting the cord for a second. You can watch every TV show you want via AppleTV and an iPad.

I think the point is that you can watch all the TV you currently watch for a little more effort and a lot less money.

Can't watch 2 of these 3 without either your own or someone else's cable subscription info.

He's talking about the extra 200+ channels that you have to pay for even though you only watch a few channels.

Hulu, Amazon Prime Streaming, Netflix, ESPN. I haven't had a cable provider in two months and it has not been a big deal. I do need to get an HD antenna to catch local stations and sports, but that's it. It will be a while before I go back to cable/satellite.

A smart TV or a TV attached to a Roku or similar box will provide you with access to a huge archive of movies and TV shows that can be watched on demand. A lot of it is free but the more popular and more current content is not. For TV shows, Hulu Plus is the best source. For movies, either Amazon Prime or Netflix are the best sources; there's a lot of overlap on these two so it's not really necessary to have both.

To fully replace cable or satellite you'll need to think about how to deliver live local channels to your TV. You can simply hook an antenna to your TV for a no-frills viewing experience but if you want to match the features of cable, you'll have to add a program guide and video recording capability. These require computer hardware and software in addition to just an antenna.

Live streaming of sporting events is available with a subscription to channels like ESPN. There is a growing trend to offer a la carte access to streaming channels. ESPN, HBO and CBS are examples of this kind of service; expect to see more of it in the future.

1. Buy an Amazon Fire Stick
2. Load Kodi/XBMC on it
3. Load Genesis on it

This will give you everything you need, including movies still in theaters. There is also a live sports app that you can load after you load Kodi on the stick.

Most of these people aren't cutting the cord, they're still leached on to their parent's cord & stealing content.

All content is free, if you know how to search for it.

For $120/month I don't have to scour the interwebs trying to figure out how to get free shite.

I do this:
Guide -> scroll up -> scroll down -> Enter -> Watch TV.

What's the difference between the stick and the box?
