The same economic effect would be there.

He's just an athlete - why should he make more than the President?

Publicly traded corporations should also have salary caps.

Ok. So you don't like economic growth.

Tax all income over $20.0m per year at 90%.
no one would try to earn more than $20M. they would have their own program to keep their profits exactly below the punishment line

growth is punished by 90% tax so long term so growth is eliminated

Overall agree, but you can consider Henry Ford's thinking on the mater. He paid his people better than the other companies because he figured that if they made more, more of them would buy his cars....of course he had more money personally than he could spend in 2-3 lifetimes

Society.

That said, the OP's idea is too complicated.

I like economic growth where it is across the board, and not centered among the rich white uber wealthy.

Everyone who works or who is willing to work should share in society's wealth - not just the Republican fat cats.

How does society say this? Is it not society who gives someone that very money, whether directly or indirectly?

You're making this way too obvious.

You had a professor shoot down your economic ideas because they would never work and you think that's "economic competency"? You are a feeble minded person whose father is correct...you need psychological help.

Players Association wouldn't let the players be undervalued like that. Your solution just sees more money going to owners

Do you instead suggest NFL franchises not be allowed to sign fair market TV contracts because "throwing a football" for that much offends you? Outlaw Networks charging X for Super Bowl commercials slots that advertisers gladly pay?

While we are at it we might as well decide what everyone's skill in life is worth, and not let it be determined by the free market. Or you could just move to China/Russia... By the way if you do they won't decide your skills as a citizen are worth very much

In our society, we call it "self-government" as we govern ourselves and thus set our own rules.

Yes, see above.

I'm guessing she would like controls on all sorts of things in the name of equitable relations.

I'm fair. I didn't say cap player's income and let the owners increase their wealth. The owners are already among the obscenely wealthy. Set up a structure where they are forced to create jobs with meaningful pay as opposed to pocketing the money.

Net worth over a billion? No no and no.

I'd even support the forced divestiture of excessive wealth accumulations. e.g. Walmart's main stockholders having to give up some stock to the disenfranchised and less fortunate.

We really need to rein in wealth disparity.

Bama's profit in 2006 (pre-Saban) - $31.8M

2016 - $47M

Being that he's averaged about $6M per year, i'd say they made a pretty good investment.

That's also not counting additional revenue that's been created and reinvested instead of being counted towards the black. I don't know how many of you visit Tuscaloosa often, but the change in the past 10-15 years has been absolutely astounding.

-Owners each employ 52 men with the lowest salary being 450k.
-a coaching staff
-training/medical staffs
-hundreds of front office staff
-cheerleaders
-police officers
-concession workers
-electricians
-plumbers

Not to mention indirect jobs like the networks that employ broadcast crews, which branches out as well. You also have building a new stadium somewhere every few years.
I'm sure the list of employees is actually 5x longer than what I threw together
