Louisiana has the same thing.

That Louisiana example is not the same at all since it doesn't have the battle flag as the background for the whole plate. You could argue that that SCV logo is just like any other club or interest that has their own plate. The full sized flag as a background is too much.

Are you saying someone is stupid for expecting to not get vandalized for a mostly benign opinion? Bush or McCain sticker? Jesus Christ dude get a grip

No, arse, I am saying folks in the recent past have had their cars vandalized for a lot less than this new plate.

Those stickers were the property of the state of Georgia?

What does this have to do with my comment?

As much as your comment has to do with the OP.

We don't agree on much but I agree.

I would also double dog dare some of you "sons of confederate veterans" to park a car with that tag on it in parts of Atlanta. Show the world exactly how devoted you are to grandpappy's memory!!!

I will tell you what is TRULY offensive in Georgia....you can buy a tag with a fricking florida gator on it!!! Or an Auburn Tiger, A UT VOL, a Clemson paw, and any number of other foreign school mascot on it. That is fricking disdusting...if you gonna carpet bag in the peach state at least have the commmon decency not to parade around the streets of this fair land with that ugly shite on display. It is bad enough to have to deal with the native sons who insist on having that black and gold insect adorn their vehicle....but a fricking Gator??? Here is an idea...if Florida is your school and your proud of it then stay the frick in florida and get a job and live there....

I understand some have co-opted the flag to be a sign of hate but that wasn't in any way it's original intent.

The Swastika was originally a Buddhist and Hindu religious symbol. Now anyone sees it they immediately think of the Nazi party. To the winners go the spoils and the south lost a war with the abomination of slavery as it's root cause, and they were on morally wrong side at that. Yeah it might mean Southern Pride to some but it represents way too much bad stuff to go along with it. You want to fly it that's fine that is your right, but don't start crying about heritage and unfairness when you get shite for it. Because yeah if it means southern pride to you and you ignore the other stuff your just being a stubborn a-hole at that point.

When i say "you" I am referring to people in general, Not the poster I responded to specifically.

The majority of blacks in 2014 couldn't identify it either, which is pretty much the point.

What? Is this an assumption or are you basing this nonsense on something? In my experience, any white or black person 18 years and up can identify the confederate flag. It's not like it hasn't been seen in 50 years. The only group that may not recognise it would be recent immigrants.

In other news ... David Bowie/Queen's "Pressure" is completely different than "Ice Ice Baby"

1:40 mark ... totally different ... just like the LA and GA Sons of Condeferate Vet license plates

Why would anybody want to display this fact when you know it would rub at least 33% of people who see it the wrong way?

It's not like it's anything to be proud of anyway - "hooray my great great great great great grandfather father fought in a war that he lost".

Perhaps the same reason you didn't stop with your first sentence ... and added another that will likely "rub at least 33%" of this board the wrong way.

Or perhaps because the state offers it and the person wants one.

We are a nation of friggin wusses. The fact someone gets offended by what is on someone's license plate is laughable. Yes, the rebel flag means different things to different people. It's not like Georgia is forcing ALL people to get the rebel flag license plate.

I think people with Obama bumper stickers are dumbasses, but it's their right to proudly display them, just don't force me to lower the value of my vehicle by having to get one.

I didn't get it. I thought it might increase the risk of vandalism to my car.

I got the LSU one instead, which only increases my risk if I park it in Tuscaloosa.

The majority of Southerners were poor themselves and didn't own slaves or land. I'm from New York and I lived in Georgia for many years but it didn't offend me when I was called a Yankee by Southerners because when I eventually left the South all y'all knew at least I wasn't a Damn Yankee. I now live in California and I've met more racists and bigots here than I ever met in Georgia. BTW, Go DAWGS!!!!

As I stated in a previous post, I am from New York but I lived in Georgia for many years so I know what a Yankee is and I know what a Damn Yankee is but I don't know what a God Damn Yankee is. I am going to give you a thumbs up anyway

Why don't they just use a different confederate flag?

Because the organization is called "Sons of Confederate Veterans" not "Sons of people who just lived in the states that comprised the CSA but didn't fight in the war."

They use the battle flag because it is the apt symbol for the group.
