Yes, BHP it still is unfortunately. I appreciate your thoughts on this. I am admittedly one who sometimes fell obligated to answer that with which I feel is unfounded, unfair or untrue.

I have many friends in the SCV who fly the flag and are good, honest and caring people. And they are from varied ethnic and religious backgrounds and even orientations. So yes it gets under my skin when some knuclehead pops off "they are all racist"

Have a great day

The hyper-sensitivity makes for dishonesty. I'd be glad to have you as a friend. But, its not NECESSARY. Be fair and I'll never worry about your favorite past-times or jokes. JEEBUS!! Faux outrage is ridiculous and MUCH more worrisome to me than a fricking flag. Again, I may choose to not be friends based upon some of these things. But, I'll never try to force you to change that which is none of my business.

This makes WAYYY too much sense for this board. I'm picturing D.C. Webel foaming and disoriented.

1.Intolerant yes. To automatically assume the worst possible motive for some one to have the flag without any facts or knowledge of the person

That's not what intolerance is. Tolerating something isn't the same as liking it.

2. Ignorant- There are many other reasons for someone to have the flag besides them being a racist, in fact many others. If you do not know this-that is ignorance. If you do know this and just choose to ignore it..see No 1

Honestly, I think it's ignorant for someone to act as if they can fly that flag without its racist connotations. It's ignorant of history, symbolism, etc.

Even if someone does so with the best intentions, that doesn't mean that flying the Confederate flag doesn't pretty much always have a racist connotation.

I don't foam, nor am I easily disoriented.

I can't tell BHP how to feel about something. I can only tell him how I feel about something. Isn't that the whole point of this discussion?

I'd like to be clear that I hold no ill feeling for those that think differently than me.

I get frustrated by all the "feelings are hurt" stuff. I despise FAUX outrage.

But, the fact that you honestly feel something I do not does not affect my thoughts about you in any way.

Now, my dad taught me that I am free to be offended or have my feelings hurt at will...but, it does not compel anyone to do a DAMNED thing about it. I am happy that I learned that lesson early. I find that it is a very comfortable life-view to not be offended very easily.

well obviously this could go around for ever. So here is my last shot on this.

Your, problem, as I see it, is that you confuse what is implied or inferred. If I fly the flag I am implying what I mean, when you see it, you infer its meaning based on your own notions.
It is a false notion that MOST people see the Confederate Flag with racist connotations.

Over the years polls by the Atlanta JC, CNN and others show that most people are either OK with it or neutral. The lastest scientific poll was done by Pew Research. I shows that the majority of Americans don't see the flag as racist or not.
Not even a majority of African Americans see it as racist.
The poll is very interesting, have a read
LINK

I am neither ignorant of history or symbolism. And I realize what SOME think of the flag. Lots of things offend various people.

Believe what you want, but it is not supported by the facts.

My only hope is that you think twice when you see someone with a Confederate flag, and not automatically judge them as a racist.

I am sure there are other things we agree on. Truly hope things are going well for you.

I agree.

You seem to not care what people infer. That's an approach I'd rather not take. That's where we differ.

Laudable.

But for those who deny the CBF carries racial connotations, they are flatly wrong. You can choose to be the bigger man and ignore it, as you have. That's fine. But it is what it is.

No one should be offended.

People should be allowed to freely ostracize themselves from most of society with backwards and old symbols pining for a past that never existed but in revisionist mythology.

Sort of like the Nazi defenders saying - it's just mean't to symbolize the form of the Christian Cross as our heritage.

Everyone knows what this shite means. And everyone knows the truth about the sole issue of the Civil War...and everyone knows about the Klan appropriating the flag in the 50's...and everyone knows the Stars and Bars were used as defiance against integration during the Civil Rights struggle.

So stop pretending all this heritage - state's rights - innocuous battle flag bullshite - you're are peddling to ignorant indoctrinated morons who will believe anything - to "keep [racist] hope alive."

Nobody but die-hard - silent racists - down yonder - believe differently.

So yes...this should be allowed - this license plate should be issued freely to all who want it.

All Americans should be allowed to freely purchase a Scarlet Letter on their car to announce to the world...

Stay clear of this a-hole.

Are Louisiana and Georgia the only states that have the CSA flag on the license plate?

Changing a license plate/flag at this point is purely cosmetic and meaningless. It's like making some 1-AA team change their mascot from the Indians to the Wildcats..yea cause that's going to really rewrite history. There's nothing intentionally offensive or threatening about it. The only people pushing these things are the liberal PC police.

Again, many of you don't know what flag this is. Might be good to understand exactly what you are talking about before spouting off.
