re: Technologies instead of a wall? - germandawg
In certain areas, the wall makes sense, because of how quickly someone entering the U.S. could disappear into urban areas.
Those walls already exist....accept in extremely rural areas of the border where there is a crossing.... Trump can call it a metaphorical wall and it do...

re: Trump's first 100 days - an executive success - germandawg
Actually, I am not sure. It was early, though. And, in fairness, they(The committee) gave it to him, so it was not his "fault" (Bad word, but the only one i could think of)he got it. It's not like he got up and said he deserved it.
I suppose he could have turned it down or some...
And becasie he announced he wanted to close gitmo. He didn't deserve it and I'm an Obama supporter.
I voted for him twice and I was amazed when it happened....there really was no justification for it...especially considering that we were at war at the time....under no circum...
Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize before he did anything in office! It was based on...what? I'm really curious.
You got me friend...I think it was based on his being the first black president of the world's lone super power....I don't think it was based on any idea of "peace" becaus...

re: Citing new tariff, Jackman lumber mill to add jobs, second shift. - germandawg
It's real easy for people with college degrees (I am assuming like most on this board) and elites to look down on manual/ trade labor. That being said, only around 30% of Americans go to college. That means there is a large segment of the population who are available for trade jobs with good ...

re: Democrats- provide me with realistic tax reform you would support - germandawg
The reason tuition has skyrocketed in the past 15 years is largely due to government incentives. Somehow taking out $100k loans for a gen ed degree has become normal, and the government is helping people do this. The colleges know the students are getting cheap money and won't have to pay ...
They aren't your problems. I found a way to pay my own way through school with only taking one small loan during my last semester. I didn't get to party like my other college friends but I didn't have to pay off loans until I was 35 either. It was a good trade off.
You did ...

re: Democrats- provide me with realistic tax reform you would support - germandawg
I think treating people like corporations would be a good idea....if it is good enough for the first amendment it ought to be good enough for the IRS. Eliminate give tax payers a choice between recieving a standard deduction or allow individuals to have the same kinds of write offs as a business......

re: Mnuchin: The upcoming Trump tax will propose decreasing Corporate Tax to 15% - germandawg
Is that really a loophole though? If I depreciate $10,000 over 5 years I write off $2k a year and that write off goes away in 2022. If you change the depreciation period to 2 years, I write of $5k this year and next year, but in 2019 the write off is used up. So I have to pay higher taxes fro...
small companies w/out the support of cronies are paying way more than 15%. It has to be done as a move to end the cronyism.
This is true BUT in the overall economy if we cut the max to 15% and eliminate the loop holes and deductions and the picking of winners and losers that make...
