Actually I would argue that your above statement is entirely more racist than the OP.
That aside, I don't think voting should be "rich vs poor".
Although if the majority of your income is government benefits (aka: Taxpayer costs), then I'm not sure how you should have equal say as someone who is actually contributing to society.
I don't own property (more specifically real estate), so why should I be able to vote on the raising/lowering of property tax?
Why should a family receiving food stamps, welfare, completely subsidized healthcare, etc... be able to say "Hell yeah, I vote to increase that"?

Then let the renters buy the land and then they can have the right to a vote.

Yeah no. I can understand if you don't want me voting on property tax and the like, and I'm ok with that since I don't own "land".
However, if you are going to tell me I can't vote at all because I don't own property, then you have no right to take my thousands of dollars in taxes every year.

Again, you don't own the land outright, so why should you get the vote?
Anything that is leveraged is not really yours.

You just eliminated 90% of the military. Good plan.

You should only be worried if it starts to look normal to you.

If that described you, then you've actually got real skin in the game and thus should have the right to vote. Everyone else should shut their pie hole.
I swear, some of you are either just really short-sighted, don't completely think before hitting "submit," or are just overall nuts.

Can't believe some of this shite and I actually agree with some people here on other issues

They already do. In the form of campaign donations and lobbying.

I swear some of you run your pie holes about original intent of our founding fathers but when someone actually presents you with one of their real views you lose your fricking minds. You're progressives and you don't even know it.

So the whole 3/5ths thing was a good idea?

Saved that one for future use.

Voting rights are addressed by amendments, the courts, and laws on the books. It's never going to change. The founders are dead, so they can't do anything about it.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on my assertion about taking thousands of dollars of tax revenue from individuals who don't own "land"
Are you ok with taking thousands of dollars from a taxpaying citizen but not allowing them the right to vote?
OR
Would you not allow them to vote, BUT allow them to keep their thousands of dollars in taxes every year?

We're talking voting rights here. Not census methods.
Posted on 7/20/14 at 1:36 pm to dcrews
First option sounds a lot like taxation without representation to me.

I think message boards might not be for you, big guy.
