I’m on team Anyone But McCarthy - but I’ll take this whole thing seriously if someone nominates Scalise.

How many threads per week do we have, in which nearly-everyone complains that the GOP is incapable of closing ranks and voting as a bloc, like the Dems?

Now, the loudest of those complainers are among the loudest cheerleaders for the FAILURE of the GOP to close ranks and vote as a bloc.

Embarrassing.

Yep.
The GOP is going to have to have a behind-closed-doors chat.
That’s assuming House voting protocol allows for it at this juncture in the day.

Everyone should cheer for the failure of party bloc voting.

Republicans have the majority. They could require the House to deliberate naked on the National Mall at midnight if they wanted to.

I do not disagree. In fact, it is usually I who is defending the free thinkers.

But the hypocrisy is entertaining.

What a pointlessly lame uninteresting take of this whole situation.

I would say you’re smarter than this but lately you haven’t been.

This is going to end with Democrats being lazy and wanting to go home. You don’t need 218 you just need a majority of those voting. If enough Ds leave after a few more rounds of this McCarthy will win with his 200 or so.

It is the media coverage and RINOs stating that this is divisive. Of course they say that as it is in their interests in trying to elect McCarthy.

Some fights are necessary and fighting against putting McCarthy in as Speaker is well worth it.

I actually trust him less than Scalise on the issue of Big Tech.

Scalise is enough of an insider to appease the GOPe, and can be reigned in by his own district - which is the most conservative in the state

This is actually a good point of consideration. A guy like McCarthy has basically no personal political risk being basically a democrat lite, given his district.
