If the Drs visiting & checking on the family in their apartment aren't worried enough to wear protective gear, I'm not THAT worried about getting it from people showing no symptoms. I do think it's been a bit too lax, though.

Perry had yet another opportunity to show up Obama. Getting logistics in place to monitor the family 24/7 and provide food/supplies during the quarantine period would have been easy to set up and not that costly

That is the kind of absurd sensationalist BS we don't need right now.

They're trying to keep this thing tamped down, from a media standpoint, until after the election. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is not susceptible to that sort of manipulation.

We'll know in a few days - if it holds at 1 - it's no outbreak (Duncan was 100% infected in Liberia) - if we get only 1 or 2 from the circle of contact, we can probably contain it along linear lines. Anything more than that - it can go exponential at that point - because each of these people will also have circles of contact.

Again - I think Nigeria is holding at 20, which is pretty damned good, if you ask me. We should follow their template as much as possible, using our facilities and personnel, until that stops working.

I see. Should we continue towing the WH line?

Not without googling it. A cursory glance over doesn't suggest he is anyone in particular. He is a humanitarian doctor who works overseas.

My first reply is "Who got infected while wearing a completely self contained suit that insulates you from the outside world completely? What is even the basis for the false premise?"

Nothing in that infrogram is wrong. There are a couple of innacurracies as is typical for large generalizations like that....but they are minor.

And there isn't any indication to suggest that it even *might* be wrong.

I think he's referring to the 2 U.S. drs who were flown back to the US for treatment.

That's how I read it - harkening back to that Ebola coverage from the doctor story.

I guess my point is....and looking at his other stuff I'm thinking the tweet is out of context....that the basis of that one liner starts attributing Ebola with magical powers.

You cannot get sick with anything with a properly worn "space" suit. Period.

And I don't know of those two docs even had them....but if they did, even they don't know where they could have been infected. Seems disingenuous to know for sure that it happened while wearing the suit.

The closest they can come to that is if they fricked up on procedure while taking it off.

I understand what you're saying.

But I don't.

But really, I do.

Except where I don't.

Technically no, as long as the reader understands that the "contact with blood or body fluids" can occur indirectly 3-4 days later, long after the infected person has departed the area.

I can guarantee the average reader would not gleen that from the infogram.
