You think our soldiers are free to pick and choose what assignments they take based on their opinions?

You think religious rights mean nothing in this country?

(See, I can do it, too)

How is that relevant to your Nazi comment?

Very intolerant of the police chief there...not to recognize the sensibilities of his employees. I'd be looking for a new job if the chief forced me to do something I didn't want to

Would you sensibilities have been extended to all of the NOPD officers who failed to report to their posts for Katrina?

Do cops get hazard pay for working the gay pride parades? They are putting their asses on the line after all.

Also read that he's suing for defamation. His name was never released to the public lol.

Yes, the gay mafia. When they leave a stallion's penis in your bed, you know you're in trouble.

The articles I read don't say on what exact grounds he's suing on. Just says he's been "defamed" by the police department lol. Hard to defame a person when nobody has any idea who they are.

You're comparing a gay pride parade to a holocaust camp?!?

For most, religious beliefs dictate morals. This cop refused to work the parade based on moral grounds, no? So, would you prefer that law enforcement employees blindly follow government instruction, regardless of religious beliefs, or would you rather the individual actually address the situation on his/her own and decide whether or not he agrees with it on moral grounds before following instructions? In this case, those advocating for civil rights of homosexuals will likely come to their defense simply because they agree with the supporters of the parade, and subsequently the State.

The civil rights support here, from what I've seen from the board's response in this topic, appears to be directed more toward the Gay Pride Parade group rather than the individual, which I find very interesting given the typical Libertarian nature of this board.

Goodwin's Law or not (cynicism acknowledged), under current Title VII and other employment law, in my humble opinion this individual should have the right to refuse working an assignment that contradicts his religious beliefs. Again, acknowledging the Libertarian nature of this board, this individual probably shouldn't work for the State if he doesn't want to have to work detail on an assignment with which he doesn't agree on moral grounds.

And again,
quote:

To allow personal opinion to enter into whether an officer will take a post is not something that can be tolerated...

is a very dangerous precedent to set. Don't question your orders, just follow them.

Sieg Heil.
