Chalk it up to "zero tolerance policies", which have my vote for the worst concept ever introduced to schools. Anyone ever thought about the logic behind "zero-tolerance policies?" They are policies designed to look like safeguards, but in reality they are simply tools to cover the arse of administrative figures in the event they make a retarded decision. So with "zero-tolerance policies," no decision has to be made, because it's zero-tolerance. Throw an imaginary grenade at recess and get suspended? "See? See? It's in the school handbook. ZERO TOLERANCE! There's nothing we can do to help you!" So essentially zero-tolerance policies are designed to relieve administration of one of the biggest responsiblities they have: make decisions. Only cowards or inept leaders/decision-makers implement zero-tolerance policies.

As a former administrator I only have one thing to say...

I tired to battle this mentality for years...even was called in front of school board to explain why discipline seemed "inconsistent." I told them if they wanted zero-tolerance, 3 strikes your out type policies they did not need me...all they need was to let teachers bubble in their infraction on a scan tron and then let the scan tron administer standard punishment. But an administrators job was to look at any and all variables surrounding the incident and make the decision best for the school and kid.

The incident in question was a child who threatened to blow up the school. After investigation I found out that his statement was "I am going to build a nuclear bomb and blow the school up" Teacher was upset becuase i did not go for expulsion...

Did I mention...former administrator?

Wonder what the punishment would be for crashing an imaginary airplane. Waterboard the bastard?

Kind of funny how they think a school suspension is going to change how this little boy will act. From day 1, boys have it shoved down their throat that they need to be strong, tough, and involved in physical activity by society. Good luck changing a social upbringing that has been around for thousands of years with your pussification libs

That kid shouldn't be so reckless. He could have killed Manti Te'o's girlfriend.

re: Colorado boy, 7, reportedly faces suspension for tossing imaginary grenade
I feel bad for the kids of today. I remember being in 2nd grade (this was 1980) and virtually every boy in my class would bring his little plastic toy M16 (we all got them at K-Mart) to school every day to play war out on the playground during recess. I don;t think there was a single boy not in on this game after the first couple days. We'd split up into two sides and have WWIII every day out on the playground. It got so big even the girls got in on it by playing like they were the nurses back at the aid station. Now that was fun. Kids nowadays will never know what that is like.

Do that now and your 10 year old will get arrested for brandishing a weapon. LINK Play Cowboys and Indians and you might get arrested for a hate crime. People in this country are losing it.

We don't want other students injured by imaginary shrapnel.

I'll do you one better than that. When I was in high school, we started a giant water gun war. A small initial attack escalated into a lot of people splitting into mafia families, all carrying water pistols in our coats and bookbags. There were "hits" between class, before school, after school, and off campus. We were whipping guns of every shape and size out and gunning each other down in the streets.

It was awesome.

Shocking, right?

Yep. They went light on him, IMO.

Including making up false stories for the media. She set her own house on fire, endangering her children who were in the house, then claimed the family dog saved them all by waking her up as the fire raged.

Sick woman. Perfect source for Fox News, though.

Thanks for the follow up. My faith semi-restored in humanity. Although this was more extreme, we still have all the water toys causing school lockdowns and suspensions. I dunno. Are those fake too? I hope so....

Rex is not a reactionary, and PC is not reactionary, and you really don't understand what a reactionary is if you believe what you wrote.
