The Biblical texts have had much more scrutiny applied to them (as they should) and have held up remarkably well.

With the amount of hypocrisy and contradiction in them, this isn't necessarily a positive.

A contradiction is not the same as a paradox, and hypocrisy is an interpretation that has no bearing on the reliability of the texts.

The European Grammar of Self-Intolerance [Jonathan Bowden]

This is a great talk on what you are saying.

It is why Poland said they won't take muslims even there are sanctions. They think it will be more affordable to pay sanctions than to take the muslims.

The country’s rapidly growing Muslim demographic presents an “opportunity” for “Christians, and all who live in Germany”, Schäuble stated, adding: “We can learn from them. “Many human values are very strongly realised in Islam. Think of hospitality, and other things like, what is there… And also tolerance, I believe, for example.”

One can draw a comparison to the "opportunity" the Zoroastrians were presented by the Muslim conquerors in Persia to "learn" about Islam circa 600AD. Unsurprisingly, the Muslims had no tolerance for the Zoroastrian faith. Thus one of the greatest and oldest religious communities became a shadow of its former self.

Exactly. Which is what makes the point rather odd. What about Islam uniquely encaptures hospitality or tolerance that Christians might want to turn to it to help them learn better?

I can't help but notice this very important point on page one is conveniently being ignored by our Progressive buddies.

As an atheist, these types of convos always fascinate me. Especially the willingness of the left to sympathize and promote the most violent religion known to man.

You offered no specifics to support your statement. I answered a broad, generic statement with another one.

"I'm not religious and even I know that"

seems like you're naturally so condescending that you don't realize when you're doing it.

when you say 'single lines' you of course mean 'quotes from jesus' right?

No I mean like you did on page 1.

You are isolating scriptures. You are taking them out of context. You are leaving out other scriptutes that prove you to be wrong.

Thus rightly dividing scriptures.

the original Greek text, the word we translate as 'enemy' is more accurately described as a 'personal enemy', ie someone within your community/family whom you are at odds with.

Yeah, the whole out of context thing. If he actually wanted to know, he would make the attempt. But he isnt. He is just trying to put his political points of view into the Bible thats not there.

I wonder if we can have Muslim migrants teach " tolerance and hospitality " to the children in Manchester hospital beds? What " an opportunity to learn " that would be to those spoiled, entitled kids.
