LINK

Seems at least somewhat odd because florida isn't exactly a deep blue state, and most moderates and indies won't like this, and he is up for reelection in 2018

Kind of scary because it's so illogical.

He's either retarded or he thinks he knows something

Cut NASA then to get him in line.

Lol Schumer already delivered 8 votes for McConnell this is all theatrics. Let's him not be the target of the left for once.

The Dems seem to be holding the line on this. This is the hill they want to die on. Friday may have given them a false sense of momentum.

That is what I thought as well. However, word is they are really going through with it.

He's looking rough in that picture. Why do so many of our politicians have to be 70 and older? In what other profession is that normal?

It's a done deal on Gorsuch.

This would be a great opportunity for Republicans to generate fake news.

Get a "Democrat" to send Jew Schumer and money-changer Nelson a Bible to read during their filibuster, and watch them squirm and ignore it so as to not "offend" anyone.

Then get Fox News to have the "Democrat" on and blast it far and wide.

It's beyond stupid they're forcing the nuclear option over a conservative replacing a conservative justice instead of RBG.

They should've saved this fight for what really matters and that is RBG and that could've galvanized the left. Should RBG die while Trump is still POTUS, the process of her replacement is going to be pretty uneventful save for the hysterics of the left having already wasted the nuclear option fight on a conservative in Gorsuch.

I am a moderate (liberal by PT standards!) and I would suggest Ds pass on filibustering Gorsuch. He takes much more conservative positions than I like (little guy typically on the short end of the stick), but he is highly qualified with no obvious reasons to challenge other than politics. I would keep their powder dry and pull it out when there is the next truly unqualified nominee.

There is scuttlebutt that Republicans don't have the votes for the nuclear option right now. Not sure if that is true, but it makes a little more sense that Dems would filibuster it if it is.

Really stupid question, but how long would they have to filibuster to block the nomination?

This is so obviously the correct political play. I must be missing something.

They would be asking for a primary challenge if they voted against it provided there are not enough democrat votes for Gorsuch.

It pains me to say so, but I think the only thing left to do is get rid of the filibuster for everything.

I have always been in favor of that rule which allows slowing down the process of enacting laws.

However, the arena is now so poisoned that the rule is going to be revoked, if not by the GOP then surely the next time the DEMs obtain a majority. If it is going to die, let it be now while conservatives can get some benefit from it.

RIP filibuster/.

You wanna talk about political suicide. Those Repubs would be primaries in a heartbeat.
And where did you even get this Info from?

Based on what source? I've heard that argument (mostly from Democrat committee members) but I don't know that there is that much truth to it.

I think I recall hearing he voted with the majority more than 95% of the time, was only overturned a few times on appeal and only a handful of the decisions were straight "party-line" votes (based on who appointed the judges).

Sounds like he is the moderate you've been looking for

The whole Supreme Court thing is funny because to hear Democrats talk about it you think it was the Republicans who politicize the court. Meanwhile in the last three decades every opportunity they had the Democrats have nominated a straight-up ideologue.

Then the Republicans nominate people like fricking Kennedy just to appease.

You can bet your arse that even though the above is true the next chance Republicans get to filibuster somebody Democrats will go nuclear

That's why it shouldn't even be a question this time. People act like the Republicans going nuclear this time means the Democrats will get to use it next time. Ha joke's on them. The Democrats are going to use it regardless
