A) Merrick Garland

B) If they're willing to use it to replace Scalia, then they're willing to use it to replace RBG and it's worthless to pretend that it's still in effect. If Republicans want to go nuclear, have fun owning that.

Party loyalty. And Bill Nelson won his 2012 bid in a landslide, he's in no real trouble in Florida.

The right won this battle after they bet the presidential election on it.

Take the L like a grown arse adult, get over it and adjust to the reality of the current situation and think strategically.

Democrats have already shown they were willing to use the nuclear option for cabinet nominees and lower judge positions when there wasn't an urgent need. That's complete bullshite.

Speaking of owning it, are you having fun with the most conservative cabinet ever thanks to Harry Reid's gambit?

Oh and have fun getting a full four years of Trump stacking the lower courts with more Neil Gorsuch's.

I personally think the Schumer strategy will fail. Gorsuch is eminently qualified and this is rank histrionics as a result of Republican resistance on the Merrick Garland nomination

Governor Rick Scott is going to win that seat. If not him then, Pam Bondi.

Its a calculated move. If for some reason gorsuch fails, nelson gets credit in media in his state.

No one was talking about him. Now they are. Free t.v. time. Trump approves. Free tv time is good and your boy scout obedient opponents are not even on the front page.

Two words about owning it "Harry Reid" what a dip shite short sighted POS he was. I hate both parties extreme positions but the liberal wing of the Democrats is just intolerable.

Gotta remember FL voted for MAGA so it may not play out well for him (despite recent victories).

Seems at least somewhat odd because florida isn't exactly a deep blue state, and most moderates and indies won't like this, and he is up for reelection in 2018

Unless Nelson has decided NOT to run again (all sources I've seen indicate he has hinted he will), this could be a problem for him.

Turnout in mid-term elections is usually poor, especially among his Dem base in the Tampa/Orlando/South Florida areas. If the GOP runs a good candidate and gets normal turnout (especially in its Pensacola/Jacksonville/Space Coast strongholds), he could be defeated.

The Republicans should go ahead with the 'nuclear option'; this will make it more politically normal and relatively palatable for the NEXT nomination. Assuming that the next one is the one that swings the Court to the Right for the next generation. That one will be a dogfight; better to get the Public used to it now, so it don't come off as over the top.

Every poll has Nelson beating Scott by 8-10 points, and Bondi loses by 15 points.

GOP needs to find some better candidates.

We are moving from LA to FL in two months - that will be at least 2 additional votes against him.

I live in FL and Bill Nelson is a partisan hack disguised as a thoughtful elder statesman. Think Harry Reid without the crazy.

Let's see if they're also willing to bet public backlash from going nuclear on it, as well.

Only takes 3 Republican Senators to put the brakes on Gorsuch, and you know how they like their tradition...
