I swear, people. Words matter. 65% of 8th graders can't read proficiently, for their level. 65% of kids aren't illiterate.

65% can't read and comprehend, read the article. If an 8th grader can't comprehend they can't read.

This is what they want. They want the people or more importantly the pore people of this country to be ignorant so that they will buy in to the MSM and all of their lies. The is why you have so many liberal arts degrees because those kids cannot pass a regular curriculum in any job that is a benefit to society.

Any more information on this? Maybe a link?

Both my children read on a 4th grade level in the 1st grade.

Maybe the children in your kids school are all retarded?

I did. You are oversimplifying.

quote:

When it comes to reading, eighth-grade “students performing at the Proficient level should be able to provide relevant information and summarize main ideas and themes,” says NCES. “They should be able to make and support inferences about a text, connect parts of a text, and analyze text features. Students performing at this level should also be able to fully substantiate judgments about content and presentation of content.”

They can read and understand the words, and what they mean. Themes, messaging, inferences, or anything that involves analytical thinking is what lacks. Which makes PERFECT sense in the framework of knowledge gained by regurgitating standardized tests.
